CONGRATULATIONS!!! NISHANT FOR CLEARING UPSC CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION 2023

Hello students! I'm very happy to have this opportunity to interact with you. I'm an alumnus of this school (batch 2013), and this is where I was shaped in my formative years to be the person I am today. As such, it is my responsibility and my pleasure to share with you some of the things I have learned along the way. First of all, I learned to be curious. Curiosity is the fuel for learning. It might be THE defining characteristic of a good student. Curiosity opens your mind to new possibilities and opportunities. So don't be afraid to be curious. Ask your teachers, your classmates, your parents, and yourself. You never know what you might discover. There is a Chinese saying, "If there are three people walking, two of them are my teachers", meaning you can learn something from everyone. I learned the value of hard work. There is no substitute for it. The saying goes, "The more you sweat in training, the less you bleed in war." Write till your hands hurt, and read till your vision is blurry. Eat good, nutritious food, get plenty of sleep, and then do the same thing again the very next day. There was never a great person who did not work hard. I learned the pitfalls of comparison. "Comparison is the thief of joy." Have role models, yes, but don't compare yourself to others. Everyone has their own unique set of advantages and challenges. The only person you must compare yourself to is the you of yesterday. I learned to be kind. Kindness is the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate. Any such victory that leaves the hearts around you broken is of no consequence. It is hollow; it is pyrrhic. It will never lead to long-term prosperity. Lastly, I would like to remind you that greatness lies within you. And it will be revealed only through skilful practise. Be the best person you can possibly be. Become great, towering personalities. Become supremely competent. As our school's motto goes, "yogah karmasu kaushalam", meaning, strive for skilful action in all aspects of your life. There is no part of your daily action that is beneath you. The act of cleaning your room deserves as much of your attention as does your maths homework. I would be remiss not to take this opportunity to thank the teachers of the school: Mrs. Nidhi Chaudhary (Principal) and Mr. H. R. Sharma (former Principal) for always expecting better from me, and motivating me to always aim better and higher; Mr. D. P. Singh for being a model of rationality and inquisitiveness; Mrs. Amarjit Kaur Sandhu and Mrs. Neerja Sharma for my linguistic proficiency, which is the bedrock of all education; Mrs. Kavita Manchanda for pushing me to emerge from my shell; and all other respected teachers who are too numerous to mention by name. They deserve all the credit for me being a halfway decent, tolerable, and productive member of society. I hope you find this message useful. Thank you for your attention, and have a great day!
